Normally New Music Friday ushers in feelings of fear (and, sometimes, loathing) as inboxes are clogged and airways full of so much new stuff your brain can’t cope. But luckily a certain gem stood out for us this week.
The first release from New York’s Amadelle, “Matter Over Mind” is a stunning introduction to the promising young pop starlet. With swirling synths and irresistible vocals, it’s the kind of track that you can’t help but sway to and a definite contender for that soundtrack of songs you can’t help but reenact the music video to in your room.
“’Matter Over Mind’ is a conflict of the heart and the mind, the feelings and the logic.” Amadelle tells us of the song’s inspo. “In any relationship there are things we feel and think but don’t know how to express out loud. This song is a way of expressing those thoughts. The video portrays how we all feel things that we can’t necessarily explain why but we’re sure of. All relationships have some sort of unification because of emotions; the most difficult yet most rewarding part of life.”
